The First Australian Division Memorial  commemorates the 5,285 men of the division who became casualties at Pozières.

The ridge at Pozières was a significant feature that was fought for by both sides.  The ridge had fortified cellars, a network of defensive trenches and OP blockhouses.

The Australian 1st Division Memorial is located north of the D929, immediately west of Pozières.
 
The inscription on the memorial reads:

To the officers, non-commissioned officers and men of the First Australian Division who fought in France and Belgium

1916 – 1917 – 1918

Pozières – Mouquet Farm – Le Barque-Thilloy – Boursies – Demicourt – Hermies – Lagnicourt – Bullecourt – 3rd Battle of Ypres – Menin Road – Broodseinde Ridge – Passchendaele – Battle of the Lys – 2nd Battle of the Somme – Lihons – Chuignolles – Hindenburg Line
