Three tanks set off from this point on 15 September to attack German positions in front of Courcelette, the first time tanks were used in the war. 

At the base of the Tanks Corps Memorial are four miniature tanks, and the boundary fence is constructed from tank six pounder gun barrels and driving chains. 

The memorial is the only one to the Tanks Corps on the Western Front. 

The Tanks Corps Memorial is located north of the D929, west of Pozières.
