Dartmoor Cemetery contains a total of 768 graves of which six are unknown.  The total number of graves comprises 633 from the United Kingdom, 71 from Australia, 59 from New Zealand, four from Canada and one from India.

Albert Communal Cemetery

Albert Communal Cemetery contains a total of 889 graves of which 20 are unknown.  There are 25 graves dating from the Second World War.  Five graves which were destroyed by shellfire are now represented by special memorials.

The Memorial to the Missing, Thiepval

The Memorial to the Missing is the largest British war memorial in the world.

The memorial carries the names of 73,412 soldiers missing after the Battle of the Somme.

Commonwealth War Graves Commission

After the Great War the public wanted to set up permanent memorials to those who had fallen during the conflict. 

In 1917 the Imperial War Graves Commission was formed to design the cemeteries and memorials to those who had been killed.
