Troodos Rally 2009, Cyprus - Day One

Today and tomorrow it's the 2009 Troodos Rally in Cyprus. 

It's a round of the Middle East Rally Championship. 

Despite that the majority of the entrants were local Cypriots and that all added up to a lot of fun.

I went to see Special Stage 5 near Panagia, high in the Paphos Forest and the foothills of the Troodos Mountains.  It's beautiful countryside and it was a truly beautiful day.  It may be October but the temperatures were nudging 30 degrees.

Amazingly, hardly anybody had turned out to see the rally, so I had the forest to myself.  And being Cyprus, nobody cares about health and safety.  That all adds up to being able to get some great action pictures of the cars hurtling along the forest tracks!
