Today was different. Considering it was early Sunday morning, the roads were fairly busy. Young Cypriot guys do like their cars, so I was being overtaken frequently by noisy Japanese sports cars.
I got the last laugh though. I'd got a map with the location of the Special Stage, so I ended up with a string of the same Japanese sports cars following me up the mountain road to the start.
I got myself a cracking position on top of a hill, and the action started. Great fun to watch and great fun to photograph.
When the last car came through I packed up and drove much further up into the mountains to catch another Special Stage in the afternoon.
In contrast with the open landscape of the morning, this second stage was deep in Paphos Forest.
It took a fair bit of walking to find a nice open corner to get the cars in the sun.
Again the action was terrific. The cars kicked up a huge amount of dust and small pebbles from the unmade mountain road - so much so my camera bag may need to pay a trip to the washing machine.
I'm delighted with the final set of pictures - check them out at my album of the Troodos Rally 2009.
