Barrow Hill Engine Shed is one of my favourite locations for railway photography in the UK.

I’ve done a load of photo charters there with steam, but also with diesel.

These diesel charters are organised by Jason Cross and the East Midlands Railway Photographic Society – and cracking days out they are.  I've joined four of their charters at Barrow Hill now.

Just as with steam, when night falls and the lights come on the place is just amazing.

From a diesel perspective, Barrow Hill’s other charm is the lines of locos gently rusting away waiting for the day they may return to life.

They fascinate me – covered in graffiti and slowly disappearing into the undergrowth – they’re an opportunity to create some really off the wall pictures.

See my album of Barrow Hill.
