Austin A40 Devon

The A40 Devon (and similar 2-door A40 Dorset) was marketed by the Austin Motor Company from 1947 to 1952. They were the first post-war saloons to be produced by Austin and featured a mix of old and new technologies.

Austin manufactured more than 450,000 examples before replacement in 1952 by the Austin A40 Somerset.

Bedford K Series Lorry near Evrykhou

The Bedford K Series lorries were first built in 1939 and were quickly redesigned for military use. This was largely a matter of styling, involving a sloping bonnet with a flat front with headlights incorporated and a crash bar to protect the radiator in a minor collision.

Evrykhou Station, Cyprus Government Railway

At first glance Cyprus is bereft of interest for railway enthusiasts.  However, there were formerly railway systems on the island, and traces remain to be discovered.

The biggest system on the island was the Cyprus Government Railway.  At it’s peak, the Cyprus Government Railway system stretched 76 miles from Famagusta on the north east coast to Evrykhou in the foothills of the Troodos mountains.
