The grave of Captain Charles Edward Piercy Henderson, MC, Royal Field Artillery, is located in Flatiron Copse Cemetery, Mametz.

Captain Henderson was killed in action at Martinpuich on 17 November 1916, aged 29. 

Captain Henderson also received the Chevalier Legion d’Honneur. 

Captain Henderson was the son of Edward Piercy and Alice Henderson of 17 Lincoln House, Basil Street, Knightsbridge, London.  He had been educated at Summerfields, Oxford, Radley College, Oxford and Woolwich Academy. 

Captain Henderson joined the Royal Field Artillery in 1906 and invented an Anti-Aircraft Gear in 1913.  He was a balloonist and held a Royal Aero Club Certificate.
