There are three pairs of brothers buried in Flatiron Copse Cemetery, Mametz.  In all three cases, the brothers were serving with the same unit and were killed on the same day.

The pairs of brothers are:

  • Lance Corporal H. Harwidge and Corporal T. Harwidge, both of the 15th Battalion Welsh Regiment.  Both died on July 11, 1916.
  • Private Ernest Philby and Private Herbert Philby both of the 1/8th Battalion Middlesex Regiment.  Both died on August 21, 1916.
  • Lieutenant Arthur Tregaskis and Lieutenant Leonard Tregaskis both of the 16th Battalion Welsh Regiment.  Both were killed in action at Mametz Wood on July 7, 1916.  Arthur was aged 32, Leonard was aged 33.  They were the sons of George Henry and Julia Anne Tregaskis, of 1, Stuart Villas, Millbrook, Jersey.
