Class 25
Class 25s were a common feature of my early interest in railways. Around Carlisle, they seemed ubiquitous. We spent many happy hours watching them trundle back and forth at Kingmoor in the late 1960s.
The Class 25s weren't as powerful as the Black 5s they replaced, so were very often employed in pairs. As a trainspotter that was great - two numbers for the book instead of one.
Their Sulzer engines had a distinct noise - earning them the nickname 'Splutterboxes'.

Class 47s just seem to go on and on. From my earliest days they've been a feature of the railway scene.

Class 50
The Class 50 locomotives are a personal favourite. They were a feature of my life from their introduction in 1967/68 until their withdrawal in the early 1990s.
